The suitcase has finally moved out of the closet and into the living room. In a high-caliber fusion of German engineering and Swiss minimalism, Rimowa and Lehni have unveiled a limited-edition furniture collection at Salone del Mobile 2026.
This isn't just another brand crossover; it is a structural tribute to the material that defined both legacies: anodized aluminum.

The Collection: Where Luggage Becomes Architecture
While Rimowa has long mastered the art of movement, this collaboration with Zurich-based Lehni focuses on the art of standing still. The partnership introduces two purpose-built pieces designed to integrate cabin-sized luggage into the home’s aesthetic fabric.
The Rimowa Lehni Bench: A sleek, open-shelving unit engineered to showcase two suitcases side-by-side. It transforms travel gear into a modular design statement.

The Rimowa Lehni Drawer: A vertical, sculptural frame featuring a closed drawer for personal effects, bridging the gap between a classic valet and modern industrial shelving.

Both units are finished by hand in Switzerland, available in timeless Silver or Black, and feature scratch-resistant felt lining to protect the iconic grooves of the Rimowa shells.

A Century of Craftsmanship
The synergy between the two houses is rooted in a shared timeline of metalwork excellence. While Rimowa’s luggage has traversed the globe for over a century, Lehni has been the quiet titan of Swiss furniture since 1922.
"This collaboration transforms the way our suitcases live at home," says Mathieu Plenier, Rimowa’s CMO. "We’ve created made-to-measure pieces that marry our Swiss and German design backgrounds, celebrating a shared dedication to aluminum craftsmanship."

For Lehni, this marks a historic pivot—the first time their modular system has been specifically adapted to solve the "luggage storage" dilemma with such industrial elegance. Owners Benedetta Agostini and Antonio Monaci describe the pieces simply as "technology and beauty applied to aluminum."
RIMONWA Lehni Visitor Center - Milano Design Week 2026
Visitors to Milan Design Week experienced the collection firsthand from April 21–24 its dedicated visitor center on Via Achille Maiocchi 10.

The installation is more than a product launch; it’s a cultural hub featuring; Titles selected by Swiss publisher Innen Publishing, A postcard-mailing station for handwritten notes from Milan and A bespoke window installation by Studioutte at Rimowa’s newly renovated Milan store.

Our Verdict: By giving the suitcase a permanent "home," Rimowa and Lehni have successfully turned a utilitarian travel object into a centerpiece of high-design interior decor.
